Biography
Marie-Louise von Franz was born in Munich on January 4, 1915, and died in Küsnacht, Switzerland, on February 17, 1998. She studied classical philology at the University of Zürich, met Carl Jung in 1933, and began analytical training with him in 1934. She co-founded the C. G. Jung Institute in Zürich in 1948 and collaborated with Jung until his death in 1961.
She lectured on Psychological Types and did not adopt the Myers–Briggs questionnaire project.

Reputation
Among Jungians, von Franz is a major commentator on depth psychology and symbolic interpretation. MBTI communities cite her less often than Myers or Beebe because she did not publish a sixteen-type manual.
